Bravotv.com:
What did it feel like touring the plantation and sharing that experience with the rest of the ladies?

Monique Samuels: I was very blessed and honored to be able to look at where we came from and how much we’ve grown since the days of slavery. It was very humbling, emotional experience. I definitely feel that sharing these types of experiences with the other ladies will help us to check what’s worth arguing about versus real life issues that carry more weight.

How did it feel to be the only sober one among the ladies? Did any part of you wish you weren’t pregnant so you could drink with the ladies?

MS: The great thing about being pregnant is that you don’t have the desire to have any drinks! I felt totally comfortable watching the ladies enjoy and indulge. It’s not the first time that I’ve been the only sober person around friends who have had a little too much to drink, and it won’t be the last. Pregnant or not I really enjoyed myself and I wouldn’t have changed that experience for the world. It was nice to see the ladies actually letting their guards down and enjoying their time as I always do.

Is it stressful watching the other ladies have drama with each other (like Karen and Gizelle and Ashley and Candiace) or are you just trying to stay out of it all?

MS: I’m trying to maintain a peaceful environment for myself and for the baby I’m carrying, so at times it is stressful watching the ladies have drama. In my family I’ve always been the peacemaker so it’s nice that I can sit back and live in my role and show the ladies who I really am outside of the “0-100 Monique”. I’m hoping I can be the voice of reason as they’re trying to figure out their friendships and the root of their issues with each other.
